Bill Maher Critiques Media’s Justifications for Kamala Harris’ Defeat: America Simply ‘Didn’t Like’ Her

I believe that America would be more than happy to elect a woman. Maher stated, “They simply didn’t like the last two that were put up.”

Bill Maher of “Real Time” quickly rejected the increasing justifications reporters offered for Vice President Kamala Harris’ humiliating loss to President-elect Donald Trump.

According to Sarah Isgur, a contributor for ABC News’ online “Overtime” show on Friday night, Harris was “set up to fail” by Democrats when she was given a “three-month campaign” to “introduce herself to the American people.”

“You’re saying three months wasn’t long enough?” Maher inquired. “It was plenty long. They met someone and didn’t like them, not because they didn’t have time to introduce themselves.

John Heilemann, an MSNBC commentator, also defended Harris, saying she was in a tough position as vice president of a controversial figure like President Biden.

“Bill, I don’t know if you know this, but the vice president of the United States is basically shoved in a broom closet for three-and-a-half years,” Heilemann stated.

Maher jokingly said, “I know, she was more popular in there,” “This idea that in a mass media age that 107 days is not long enough to know somebody?”

Shortly afterwards, Maher questioned his audience whether they were still in the dark about Harris “pretty much after a week to make a decision.”

“It’s ridiculous!” Maher cried out. “We just get sicker of them!”

“Why do you have to make all these excuses for her?” Then Maher inquired. “This week, all I heard were people saying, ‘Oh, she ran a flawless campaign.’” How absurd. Or “It’s sexism.” Racism is at play. It’s an outdated playbook.
